Trengo is an official Whatsapp Business Solution Partner. This means that you can integrate WhatsApp directly via Trengo.
There are no additional costs to send and receive messages within a 24-hour session. Messages sent outside the 24-hour session, in the form of templates, are cheaper than local SMS costs. More information on WhatsApp Business API costs can be found here.

Why choose WhatsApp Business API?
WhatsApp is an excellent communication channel for customer service to easily answer messages from your customers. With WhatsApp, your customers can always take the initiative and send you a message.
As soon as this message comes in via WhatsApp in Trengo, it can be picked up in Trengo by anyone on your team. Talk about teamwork and efficiently making sure that all of your incoming messages are being answered!
24 hour session
One of the most important things to keep in mind is the 24-hour session while using the WhatsApp Business API. This has been set up by WhatsApp itself to support fast resolution times for your customers, and to protect consumers from receiving spam messages.
The 24-hour session means that as soon as a customer sends a WhatsApp message to your company, you can respond within 24 hours since the last message was received. Within these 24 hours, a normal conversation can be conducted in WhatsApp in which both parties can respond to each other.
Does that mean that you can not contact the customer when this 24-hour session is over? Definitely not! You can restart the conversation using a WhatsApp Template (or SMS), in case you are not able to respond within 24 hours.
Starting a conversation yourself is also possible with the use of WhatsApp Templates. The 24 hours will start counting from the moment the customer answers your WhatsApp Template.
Differences with regular WhatsApp
Trengo offers you the possibility to connect your number to the WhatsApp Business API. Are you not sure how it differs from the WhatsApp Business App? You'll find all differences below.
WhatsApp Business App
The WhatsApp Business App can be installed on a mobile phone and can be used by one person at a time. An advantage of the WhatsApp Business App over the regular WhatsApp App is the fact that the business number can be verified by Meta.
In addition, it is also possible for an organization to link its opening hours, use automatic replies, create a product catalog and add labels to conversations.
With the WhatsApp Business App, the initiative always lies with the customer. WhatsApp wants to prevent its platform from being used for promotional purposes at all costs and therefore sees the WhatsApp Business App as a customer service solution.
WhatsApp Business API
The WhatsApp Business API is WhatsApp’s solution to being able to receive and send messages to your customers with your entire team using the Trengo App on your phone or computer, or using the browser version of Trengo.
Because the API is linked to a solution such as Trengo, it is also possible to use the functionalities of that system on your WhatsApp channel.
The functionalities you can use, among other things, include linking your business hours, connecting chatbots or flowbots, using quick replies and automated replies, adding rules to the channel, and bulk messaging.
Finally, with the WhatsApp Business API, it is possible to approach customers using WhatsApp templates. These templates can be used to confirm an appointment, communicate the status of a delivery or send out promotional content.

Overview of the differences
Good to know
🔘 To get started with WhatsApp Business API, you need a 'clean number'. This is a number that is not yet registered on the WhatsApp network at the time of the application. In case your number is registered on the WhatsApp network, you can temporarily remove it in order to add the number to the WhatsApp Business API.
🔘 Currently, customers in Turkey cannot receive messages sent by businesses via the WhatsApp Business API, due to its connection with the Cloud API. Customers from outside Turkey are able to receive these messages.
🔘 Keep in mind that WhatsApp has set conditions for organizations that are allowed to use their business solution. More information about these conditions can be found within their WhatsApp Commerce Policy.
