Adding WhatsApp to your Trengo account

Trengo currently has multiple partners who offer a connection for the WhatsApp Business API.

  1. Onboarding using our business partner 360dialog (recommended ⭐️)
No additional costs to send & receive messages within a 24-hour session. Templates costs (outside the 24-hour sessions) are similar to local SMS costs. More information on template costs can be found here.
  2. Onboarding via Twilio
Only numbers from their services can be added to WhatsApp via this connection. Costs include 0.005 cents per inbound/outbound message within the 24 hours. Template costs (outside the 24-hour sessions) are similar to local SMS costs. More information on template costs can be found here.
  3. Onboarding via Messagebird
Costs include the Messagebird subscription, you are not able to send out template messages using this integration.

Note: To use the WhatsApp Business API, you need a 'clean number'. This is a number that is not yet registered on the WhatsApp network at the time of the application. In case your number is registered on the WhatsApp network, you can temporarily remove it in order to add the number to the WhatsApp Business API.

How does it work?

WhatsApp is an excellent communication channel for customer service because it is a channel that can be used to easily answer messages from your customers. With WhatsApp your customers have to take the initiative and send you a message. As soon as they ask the organization a question via WhatsApp, the message can be picked up in Trengo by anyone in your team. Talk about team work and efficiently making sure that all of your incoming messages are being answered!

💡 Trengo offers you the possibility to connect your number to the WhatsApp Business API. Not sure what the differences are between the regular WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business API? Have a look HERE to find out more!

Once you pick up a message from your customer you can answer these as a normal WhatsApp message within 24 hours of receiving the message. Want to be able to respond outside of these 24 hours or start a WhatsApp conversation yourself? You can set up WhatsApp templates or send an SMS to your customers as well!

N.B.: keep in mind that WhatsApp has its own set of conditions for the organizations that are allowed to use their Business solution. More information about these conditions can be found within WhatsApp's policy.
