Open the Help Center in your widget automatically

By adding Help Center automation to your website widget, you can trigger specific Help Center articles to open up right inside of your website widget. This can be done for specific target groups or website pages.

How does this work?

Your website widget will be triggered to open up a specific article based on the conditions you set.

Adding Help Center automation to your Widget

To set up Help Center automation for your widget:

  1. Go to settings >automation >widget automation.
  2. Click on 'Add automation' and then 'Open article from Help Center'.

  3. Fill out the form:

    1. Select widget Select the widget you want to add Help Center automation to.
      This needs to be a widget that has a Help Center attached to it already. Read this article to learn how you can add a Help Center to the widget.
    2. Select which article should be opened
      Select the article you would like to open in this automation.
  4. Next, we can customize who'll see the Help Center article. Here you'll get to select whether you want your automation to trigger for everyone or set certain conditions that we explain in this article.
  5. Once we've selected our target group, let's define when and where the Help Center article will be displayed.
    1. Delivery method
      You can choose to open the Help Center article:
      • immediately, which will open the widget with the article immediately after your visitor has landed on your site
      • after seconds on-page, which will open the widget with the article after a certain amount of time after your visitor has landed on your site.
    2. Seconds on page
      If you selected 'After seconds on page', you can decide after how many seconds your help center article will open.
    3. Page selection
      Here you decide on which pages you'd like your help center article should be opened. Choose between:
      • All pages or
      • Select page URL, and insert the page URL you'd like your help center article to be displayed on.
  6. Publish your Help Center article. You can publish your article either immediately or schedule it to be published later.
    1. Start date
      Select a start date. To publish your Help Center article immediately select 'Now'. To schedule your automation to go live later on, select 'Set start date' and select the date you want your automation to go live.
    2. End date
      Select 'Never' if you don't have an end date for your widget automation, otherwise select 'Set end date' and specify the date you want your automation to go offline.
    3. Active
      Activate or deactivate your Help Center widget automation.
    4. Save
      Make sure to save your changes.
